Hi, I’m Heather Delacroix.

MY STORY...

An Actress for life

My first memory, my first conscious thought at age 9, was that of an actress. In hindsight, I wasn't able to articulate what I was feeling, I just knew it was what I wanted.  And now I'm able to put words to that feeling, it's an ongoing burning need to represent humanity, create empathy for people's stories, and to affect audiences.

My mom (thanks Mom), enrolled me in professional actor training from 13-19. At age 13, I played 40 year old Linda from 'Death of a Salesman', brought tears to the audience and I felt what now I can define as rapturous joy.  I attended the prestigious HB Studio in NY with Uta Hagen, ACT in San Francisco, American Academy of Dramatic Arts in Los Angeles, and the UCLA Theatre Arts department.  Life was perfect.

TRAGIC INTERRUPTION

BUT THEN, LIFE HAD ITS OWN TRAJECTORY,

when my dear and only sibling was murdered.  I found out when I was staying at Perry Lang's (actor/director) beach house in Santa Monica, while he was filming 'Big Wednesday'. My sister was everything to me, and life didn't seem worth living if she wasn't in the world. That summer, I was depressed, anorexic, suicidal, and along with burying my sister, I buried acting.

AND THEN

COMING BACK HOME

For decades for years… acting remained buried while working as a professional psychologist researcher. You are probably wondering what a professional psychologist researcher does? Good question…. I work in the video game industry, where I mold story, enhance player experience, and create emotional connection where it does not yet exist.  This allows the player to experience a level of empathy and humanity… the very reason why I’m an actress.

SIRENS CALL

Along the way, I discovered surfing, a myriad of forms of dance, and skateboarding, as a way to express myself as an artist. Surfing was the one thing closest to me as it represents who I am, childlike elegance, vulnerability, fierce intelligence, and underneath it all, a rebel.  A rebel for art.

Acting is not about being someone different.                                                                It's finding the similarity in what is apparently different, then finding myself in there.

- Meryl Streep

BUT THEN

I ANSWERED THE CALL

In early 2017 after breaking off an engagement, I asked myself again, "do I want to act?". This is a question I've been asking myself over the years, and the answer was always no.  This time it was YES.

Currently

Currently I'm studying at Raw Acting Studio in Venice California, and private coaching with Guy Camilleri, protege of Gene Frankel, an early member of the infamous "Actors Studio', who once said, "Talent is not enough...you must have courage, the courage to travel to those dimly lit spaces where the talent tells you to go. You must be ready to make that perilous but thrilling journey if you want to or, more pointedly, if you need to be an actor."

I'm in love with this craft and my soul is home.

Much love,

H

"Heather Delacroix is a talented actress who is bold and willing to go where the truth of a moment lives. Her uncanny insights into human behavior make her stand out from others in pursuit of her craft. Also her generosity, extraordinary work ethic, collaborative spirit and individual strength is admirable to say the least. As her coach and teacher, Heather is a joy to work with and I’m confident she will deepen and elevate any production she is working on.”
